MoistureLock™ is a strip of BPA-free waterproof fabric sewn to the inside of the container that provides many benefits.
Directs water downward. This helps to avoid dry pockets in the soil.
Promotes even moisture throughout the soil. Regular fabric pots dry from the sides. MoistureLock™ prevents that, simulating the way soil dries in nature. This helps the microbiology thrive.
Less water usage! There is less surface area for water to escape the container, which means less water usage (lower labor) and lower humidity indoors.
Aeration and air pruning comes from the 4” strip of breathable fabric towards the bottom of the container.
We’ve been searching long and hard for a calcium25 replacement. The wait is finally over! Grow-Cal is derived from non-synthetic calcium chloride and is amino acid chelated with no EDTA chelators used at all, meaning this is safe for microbes. We believe multiple sources of calcium create the best results when considering immediate and long term needs. Grow-Cal can be used not only as a foliar but also as a drench and we’ve seen great results doing both.
Due to the chelation, when used as a drench, Grow-Cal may also help with the availability of other forms of calcium. Calcium carbonate is one of the most abundant sources of calcium but it does take time to become bioavailable. Grow-Cal may increase the rate at which calcium carbonate and other forms, become plant available.
*This product is approved for use through the NOP program when dictated by a sap or soil test.
Application Rate:
Shake well before each use. Apply Grow-Cal in the early morning or evening while there is still dew on the plant. Avoid applying Grow-Cal in direct sunlight when temperatures exceed 86ºF (30ºC). Apply with high nitrogen amino acid products like Pure Protein Dry for even better results.
Fruit, Vegetables & Flower Gardens: Apply 12-16 oz of Grow-Cal per 1,000 sq. ft. of planting area before planting. *Hose end sprayers/injectors work best for this.
Soil Drench, Transplant, or Watering Solution: Dilute 2 oz of Grow-Cal per 1 gallon of water. Use 4 oz (1/2 cup) of the diluted solution per plant every 2-4 weeks.
Foliar Spray: Dilute 2 oz of Grow-Cal per 1 gallon of water and mist evenly onto plant foliage every 3 to 4 weeks. *Water as usual
Derived From: Non-synthetic Calcium Chloride. Soluble Calcium: 10%
Store in a cool & dark place at room temperature, 68ºF to 86ºF (20ºC-30ºC), and out of direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children • Avoid contact with eyes or open wounds • Not for human consumption
CAUTION: To avoid the formation of insoluble precipitates, do not mix Grow-Cal with materials containing phosphates or sulfates. Do not apply to the foliage of African Violet plants.

Insect Frass - Black Soldier Fly Larvae - Derived from an incredible company in Canada all from the digestate of black soldier fly larvae. In all natural ecosystems (where there are no man-made chemical pesticides), insects feed on and digest vegetation, and give it right back to plants in the form of nature's perfect plant food. Plants benefit insects - Insects benefit plants!
100% Organic plant food, and so much more...
Estimated NPK Value of 3-2-4
Weighs roughly 4 oz per cup.
Insect Frass naturally contains the nutrition plants require, beneficial micro-organisms, and the only immediately plant-available source of chitin (pronounced “Kite-inâ€). Chitin fortifies a plant from the inside out, causing an "auto-immune" response that signals a plant to produce natural toxins which fend off its natural enemies like pests and fungal pathogens. The EPA says that chitin and chitosan (see FAQ's) defend against botrytis (grey mold), powdery mildew, early and late blight, fungal pathogens in the root zone (root rot) and root-feeding nematodes. Insect Frass does NOT cause a plant to kill beneficial insects or beneficial nematodes.
Insect Frass is NOT a pesticide.
Insect Frass is NOT a fungicide.
Insect Frass will NOT put insects into your garden.
Give your plants all the benefits of Insect Frass, without the bugs!
How To Use
For soil building or top dressing, apply at a rate of 1/4 - 1/2 cup per cubic foot of soil.

If you're looking to mix your own soil you will need a Nutrient Kit and a Mineral Kit.Save Money and Get both together in our Complete Soil Building Kit. If you're looking for minerals see our Mineral Mix for Peat Moss. We separate the two so that the natural moisture in the rock dust doesn't effect the raw nutrients. This Recipe is inspired by and credited to Mr. "ClackamasCoots" aka "LumperDawgz"
I have always wanted to offer a nutrient kit in the style of ClackamasCoots. This nutrient kit is proven. It works because it is such a simple and affordable starting point to base your soil from. Use this kit and our free DIY nutrient E-Book and you will have healthy soil and healthy plants.   Building your own soil? This is our preferred method...Want to learn more about Building soil? Check out this blog article: Building Soil Article
Nutrient Kits Include:
(Use at 2.5 Cups Per cubic foot of soil or about 5-6 Tablespoon per gallon of soil)
1. Crustacean Meal - Crab and Shrimp
2. Kelp Meal - Thorvin Brand Ascophyllum Nodosum
3. Neem Cake/Karanja Cake - 70/30 Premium Organic Neem Cake Imported from India (West Coast Horticulture or Neem Resource)
4. Milled Malted Barley Organic 2 Row (Our recipe is based on 1/2 cup per cubic foot with each ingredient and Milled Malted Barley at 1 cup per cubic foot)
Selecting the right Nutrient Kit:
5.33 lb Nutrient Kit (12 Cups)- Mixes into 6 Cubic Feet of Soil = $30.008 lb
Nutrient Kit (18 Cups)- Mixes into 9 Cubic Feet of Soil (1/3 Yard) = $40.0012 lb
Nutrient Kit (28 Cups) - Mixes into 14 Cubic Feet of Soil (1/2 Yard) = $60.0024 lb
Nutrient Kit (54 Cups) - Mixes into 27 Cubic Feet of soil (1 Yard) = $100.0032 lb
Nutrient Kit (72 Cups) - Mixes into 36 Cubic Feet of soil (1.38 Yards) = $130.00
What You'll Need To Get To Finish The Recipe: 1. Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss: Available in 2.0 Cubic Foot Bales and 3.8 Cubic Foot Bales at Home Depot and most gardening stores. Notice: The 2.0 Bale will fluff up to about 3.0 Cubic Feet and the 3.8 Bale will fluff to about 6 Cubic Feet. 2. High Quality Compost or Worm Castings: Search for local compost or castings on craigslist or order some here on our website. 3. Aeration Amendment: Something to aerate the soil like perlite does in normal potting mix. We like to use Pumice and Rice hulls but you can use whatever is available to you including perlite, rice hulls, lava rock, pumice etc. You'll notice there isn't any High P ingredient like Soft Rock Phosphate or Fish Bone Meal and after speaking with Coot about this I realized a few things. This Kit has many ingredients that contain Phosphorous at normal levels which will not be harmful to Mycorrhizal fungi. High P amendments can have a negative effect on the soil Mycorrhizal life, for this reason Coot recommends using this recipe. Mix and then let sit for 1-2 weeks before planting.
Here is the Mix as written by ClackamasCoots:
Equal parts of Sphagnum peat moss, some aeration deal (pumice, rice hulls, lava rock - whatever is sitting in the garage) and finally some mix of humus - my compost, worm castings some black leaf mold I bought from the local 'worm guy'To each 1 c.f. of this mix I add the following:
1/2 cup organic Neem meal
1/2 cup organic Kelp meal
1/2 cup Crab meal (or Crustacean meal when available - it has Shrimp meal with the Crab meal. It's a local product from the fisheries on the Oregon & Washington Coasts)
4 cups of some minerals - rock dust
After the plant is in the final container I top-dress with my worm castings at 2" or so and then I hit it with Aloe vera juice and Comfrey extract. Or Borage. Or Stinging Nettle. Or Horsetail ferns. Whatever is ready.
That's it.

Since starting BuildASoil we've been preaching DIY techniques. This particular Fermented Plant Extract is made from Hemp, a renowned plant known to be
nutrient dense, medicinal, fibrous, and beneficial for local biodiversity. Hemp has been used for millennia in many traditional settings as food, medicine, animal feed, green mulches, fiber, etc.. Hemp Fermented Plant Extract is particularly useful for vegetative growth and in the transition from veg to bloom; however, Hemp Fermented Plant Extract is very well rounded and can be used at any time of growth, it is particularly beneficial in the bloom cycle as well.
Useful Info
Lactobacillus varieties are:
Saprophytic - they break down organic matter and generally do not harm living things.
Antipathogenic - they are effective and beneficial microbes that outcompete and
overcome “the bad guys,” or pathogenic microbes.
Ubiquitous - they are everywhere!
Facultative - surviving in both aerobic and anaerobic environments.
Microaerophilic - preferring environments with less oxygen than typical environmental air similar to conditions in soil.
Rod shaped - bacillus means “wand” or “small staff”- the “magic wand” because
fermentation has an alchemical nature of transmuting raw materials into more nutritious
valuable preparations.
Heterofermentative - translates to producing a variety of outputs including nutrients,
CO2, yeasts, acids, and carbohydrates, which plants crave.
This peach fruit extract is made with love on a small farm near Paonia Colorado using natural probiotic farming practices.
Note: The Fermented Liquid Peach Extract is a seasonal product, and only available for a limited time! Get your own while supplies last!
Derived From: Orchard Grown Peaches, Clean Mountain Water, molasses, sorghum syrup, Lactic Acid Bacteria sourced from local goat whey, Super Cera Powder, and EM-1. This is then fermented until the peach fruit is digested and extracted into the liquid and the sugars are consumed by the microbes to lock in the PH for stability and ease of use in the garden.
Why Use?Since starting BuildASoil we've been preaching DIY techniques. This particular fermented plant extract is made from ripe peach fruit, and all the information we have about fermenting your own extracts suggests that you should start with the part of the plant that you wish to grow. For instance, if you wish to get faster vegetative growth you would ferment fast growing green leaves to feed to your plants. However, if you wished to grow bigger flowers, you should ferment flowers to feed to your plants. It is with this idea, we fermented peach fruit to be used as an all natural bloom booster for your garden.Lactobacillus varieties are:

This Comfrey extract is made with love on a small farm in Paonia Colorado using natural probiotic farming practices.Derived From: Probiotically Grown Comfrey, Clean Mountain Water, EM-1, Home Made LABS (LactoBacillus Serum), Super Cera Powder, and Molasses. This is then fermented until the comfrey is digested and extracted into the liquid and the molasses consumed by the microbes to lock in the PH for stability and ease of use in the garden. Why Use?Comfrey has been used in the garden for ages because of it's ability to mine nutrients from deep in the soil and create special properties that have been highly sought out for it's medicinal benefits and fertilizer benefits. Here is a known list of the constituents that might be valuable to the gardener using comfrey: Potassium, calcium, chromium, cobalt, copper, magnesium, manganese, boron, zinc and iron. It is high in vegetable protein; in fact, you can get 20 times more protein from an acre of comfrey than you can from the equivalent amount of soybeans. Comfrey is one of the few plants that contain B-12 and is high in vitamin A, plus B-1, B-2, B-3, B-5, B-6, C and E. It has been considered as a potential food source for starving countries due to its protein content and is high in chlorophyll.
