Before opening the Sterilized Substrate bag, prepare your fruiting chamber or mono-tub by thoroughly cleaning it with isopropyl alcohol. Be sure to wear latex gloves and do your best to keep your work area as sterile as possible.
*If you need help setting up a fruiting chamber or mono-tub, please see the online guides available, so you know you are using the product correctly.
Prior to opening the bag, be sure to break up the contents of the bag, so it can become aerated. Now, open the bag and dump the contents into your sterilized bin.
Be sure you are still wearing gloves! Take a handful of the substrate in your hand and squeeze it. You should see a few drops of water come out as you squeeze. If you do not, begin to mix small amounts of sterilized water into the mix until it is at proper hydration.
*Mushrooms exhale carbon dioxide and inhale oxygen. They will suffocate if there isn’t enough airflow available! Be sure your bin has proper airflow!**Sterilized Water: Water that is free of bacterial and/or microbial life. This is typically done using an autoclave or a pressure cooker. Additionally, you may choose to use 2-3 Tbsp. of hydrogen peroxide per gallon of water to sterilize it.
You should use 1.5 lbs. of inoculated grain spawn per 5 lb. bag of the substrate. Mix your grain spawn thoroughly into the substrate in your tub. Still wearing latex gloves, cover your bin with its lid, but ensure there are filtered holes in it for air exchange.
*Incubation for most species will take about 2-3 weeks; some longer. Check your bin regularly and look for healthy mycelium growth. Your bin will slowly turn white from mycelium growth.
When the bin is fully colonized, you will begin to see mushroom pins or hyphae growing from the top of the substrate. At this point, you can either let the mushrooms continue to grow on their own or add a thin layer of coco coir or other media to the top.

1 Cubic Foot of straw doesn't weigh much but will easily mulch 6-12 plants depending on the depth of mulch and the size of the container. The straw is compressed when baled and we do not fluff it up before packaging. So 1 bag will hold more than you think.

Materials:
Young willow branches (ideally those that are no thicker than a pencil and from the current year's growth)
A large container or bucket
Boiling water
Glass jar or bottle for storing
Procedure:
Collection of Willow Branches:
Search for a willow tree and cut some young, healthy branches. Remember, the newer the growth, the higher the concentration of the rooting hormone (indolebutyric acid).
Preparation of the Branches:
Remove all the leaves from the branches.
Cut the branches into small pieces, around 1-2 inches long.
Steeping the Willow Pieces:
Place the cut willow pieces into your container or bucket.
Pour boiling water over the willow pieces, ensuring they are fully submerged.
Let the mixture sit and steep for 12-24 hours. This allows the water to extract the rooting hormone from the willow pieces.
Straining and Storing:
After steeping, strain the willow pieces out, collecting the water in a glass jar or bottle.
Your willow water rooting solution is now ready to use!
Application:
For plant cuttings: Soak the base of your cuttings in the willow water for several hours before planting them.
For already potted plants: Water them with the willow water solution to encourage root growth.
As a growth boost: Occasionally water your plants with willow water as it not only promotes rooting but also can give plants a growth boost due to the presence of beneficial compounds.
Storage and Shelf Life:
It's best to store your willow water in the refrigerator if you're not using it immediately. Use within 2 months for best results. After this period, the effectiveness may decrease.
