Growing in Douglas

  • Wells and the state forest. Douglas is almost entirely on private wells, and water off the ledge around the state forest can run hard. An EC/pH meter and a bottle of pH Down are the first two things a Douglas grower should own.
  • Space to grow outdoors. Big lots mean outdoor seasons. Fabric pots, living soil and organic dry amendments make it easy, and we carry the netting, stakes and organic pest sprays for late summer.
  • Cold winters. Douglas gets cold. Winter basement grows need a small heater on a controller as much as they need a dehumidifier in summer — we'll set up both.
