Coast Of Maine Cactus & Succulent Mix - 8QT

Description

Mount Desert Island Blend is Coast of Maine's organic and natural cactus and succulent mix, made for cactus, succulents, tropical palms and citrus. It is a ready-to-use blend of sphagnum peat moss, aged bark, perlite, sand, composted manure and wood biochar, with fish bone meal and kelp meal as fertilizer. This listing is the 8 qt bag.

Key specs

  • Guaranteed analysis: 0.2-0.10-0.10 (total nitrogen 0.20%, available phosphate 0.10%, soluble potash 0.10%)
  • Nutrients derived from composted poultry manure, fish bone meal and kelp meal

How to use

  • Repotting: pick a pot 1" to 2" wider than the root ball and fill it about one-third with mix. Set the plant in the center, fill around the root ball and press lightly, leaving 1/2" to 1" below the rim. Water lightly and place in a sunny, warm spot.
  • Dish gardens: use a shallow container with drainage, fill it 1/3 to 1/2 full, set the plants, cover the roots, top with small pebbles or clean sand, and water sparingly around each root ball.
  • Handle spiny plants with tongs, rubber gloves or a rolled-up towel.

Good to know

  • In spring and summer, let the top of the soil dry while the bottom stays slightly damp. Coast of Maine suggests feeding 2 or 3 times during the growing season with an organic fertilizer made for these plants.
