Good to know
Potential to heat: Because multiple composts and ingredients are mixed together, this potting soil can heat up once combined into larger volumes and watered in. Double check soil temperatures before planting into it. This is especially likely when combining over 10 cubic foot soil bags into a new container.
Living soil disclaimer: Compost and potting soils are not sterilized during manufacturing, so this soil contains a plethora of life. That can include beneficial mites, fungus and microbes as well as, from time to time, unwanted fungus gnats. Unwanted life is kept to a minimum, but that cannot be guaranteed. Using beneficial insects to combat this possibility and/or learning best practices to avoid a population explosion is recommended.
Notice of heavy metals (commercial growers): All organic potting soils contain trace amounts of heavy metals. Living Organic Soil with Malibu Compost has lots of compost and amendments, so commercial facilities should be sure to have a Heavy Metal Compliance Program for their state. Each state varies. Home growers need not be concerned, as the commercial restrictions are significantly lower than even normal outdoor garden soil.
