About Flying Skull

Flying Skull is best known for Nuke Em, an insecticide and fungicide that a lot of growers reach for precisely because it can be used late in flower and washes off cleanly. That reputation tends to overshadow the rest of the catalogue — the company also makes Z7 for cleaning irrigation lines and equipment, and a full Elite nutrient line.

The products are made in the USA and formulated to be used together, which is why we stock 21 of them. If you are running Nuke Em already, the Elite line is worth a look.

The feeding schedule

Flying Skull publishes two versions of the Elite line schedule — a shorter “Basic” chart and the fuller “Elite” chart that adds Cal Mag eXtreme, Flora Extract and On Schedule. Both are reproduced below from the same PDF; use whichever matches the products you are running.

Photoperiod is hours of light per day (the balance of the 24 hours is dark).

*Depending on plant varieties, you may need to extend your veg or bloom cycle; we recommend repeating the last week of either phase in this instance.

Flying Skull’s own chart also prints a further dosing column on the Elite schedule whose header we could not read with confidence (only a partial “86%” label survives in the source file); rather than guess what it doses, we have left it off the table above — see the original PDF for that column.

Added to 1 gallon of distilled water: ¼ tsp of Micro yields approximately 200 PPM, ¼ tsp of Grow yields approximately 100 PPM, ¼ tsp of Bloom yields approximately 100 PPM. (1¼ tsp of Micro weighs approximately 1.0 gram; 1¼ tsp of Grow weighs approximately 1.0 gram; 1¼ tsp of Bloom weighs approximately 1.4 gram.)

5 mL = 1 tsp. 3 tsp = 1 Tbsp. 1¼ mL/gal = 1½ tsp/10 gal.

To quickly dissolve the dry nutrients, incorporate each part in a separate container with warm water, then add to the reservoir one at a time. Mix thoroughly. Once all products have been completely incorporated, allow the nutrient water to circulate for a minimum of five minutes before adjusting pH. Consider filtering your water or using RO water. Check your PPM runoff to monitor your plants' uptake of nutrients and avoid toxicities.

We recommend adjusting pH to: 5.8-6.4 for hydro/soilless medium, 6.0-7.0 for soil medium.

Reading the schedule

The chart covers the Elite nutrient line. Nuke Em and Z7 have their own label directions and are not part of the weekly feed — Nuke Em is applied as needed, Z7 as a maintenance dose in the reservoir.

One practical note on Nuke Em: apply with lights off or at low intensity, and cover the underside of leaves. Most reports of poor results come from spraying too little, too fast.
