Build-A-Soil Build A Soil Living Organic Soil - Malibu Compost 1 CUFT
Living Organic Soil with Malibu Compost There is Approximately 7.5 Gallons of organic soil in each Cubic Foot Bag. BuildASoil’s Original Recipe with Biodynamic Malibu Compost! This water only mix was based on the famous Clackamas Coots recipe and it changed everything. After years of growing in this potting soil and hand making it for others, I founded BuildASoil.com to share the soil and its ingredients. Years afterward, we began to learn about soil testing and started to step out and make our own recipes. This original recipe of living organic soil with Malibu Compost is one of the world’s most famous potting soils and it has started numerous well-intentioned soil companies. We will continue to make it and the soil building kits based on it forever.NOTICE OF POTENTIAL TO HEAT: Due to the nature of mixing multiple composts and ingredients together it is possible that this potting soil will heat up once combined into larger volumes and watered in. Please be sure to double check soil temperatures before planting into. (Especially likely when combining over 10 Cubic Foot Soil bags into a new container) YOUR SOIL IS ALIVE!! LIVING SOIL DISCLAIMER: We DO NOT sterilize any of our compost or Potting soils during the manufacturing process and as a result it will contain a plethora of life. This could be beneficial mites, fungus and microbes as well as, from time to time, unwanted fungus gnats. While we do our best to keep anything unwanted to a minimum we cannot guarantee it. We always recommend purchasing beneficial insects to combat this possibility and/or learning best practices to avoid population explosion. Commercial Customers: NOTICE OF HEAVY METALS - All organic potting soils will contain trace amounts of heavy metals. LOS Malibu has lots of Compost and amendments and commercial facilities should be sure to have Heavy Metal Compliance Program for your state to make sure you are in the clear. Each state varies. Home Growers need not concern as the commercial restrictions are significantly lower than even normal outdoor garden soil. The water repellent granulates are superior substitutes for aerators such as perlite or Styrofoam. The granulate is prilled for easy mixing.Granulated rockwool as potting mix: When you use granulated rockwool to pot up your plants, the great advantage is that you never have to change the mix. The rockwool will last for the life of your plant. Rockwool's high water holding capacity will enable you to go on vacation without worrying about your plants drying out.

Build-A-Soil Growing Organic Sterilized Mushroom Growing Substrate
Our sterilized mushroom growing substrate uses a blend of organic coconut coir, vermiculite, compost, and calcium sulfate in a filter patch bag for optimal mushroom growth. Plus, the bag and packaging the mushroom growing substrate is sterilized in is fully compostable! Our sterilized mushroom growing substrate uses a blend of organic coconut coir, vermiculite, compost, and calcium sulfate in a filter patch bag for optimal mushroom growth. Plus, the bag and packaging the mushroom growing substrate is sterilized in is fully compostable!Use the directions below to make a mushroom growing tub easily at home. Before opening the Sterilized Substrate bag, prepare your fruiting chamber or mono-tub by thoroughly cleaning it with isopropyl alcohol. Be sure to wear latex gloves and do your best to keep your work area as sterile as possible. *If you need help setting up a fruiting chamber or mono-tub, please see the online guides available, so you know you are using the product correctly. Prior to opening the bag, be sure to break up the contents of the bag, so it can become aerated. Now, open the bag and dump the contents into your sterilized bin. Be sure you are still wearing gloves! Take a handful of the substrate in your hand and squeeze it. You should see a few drops of water come out as you squeeze. If you do not, begin to mix small amounts of sterilized water into the mix until it is at proper hydration. *Mushrooms exhale carbon dioxide and inhale oxygen. They will suffocate if there isn’t enough airflow available! Be sure your bin has proper airflow!**Sterilized Water: Water that is free of bacterial and/or microbial life. This is typically done using an autoclave or a pressure cooker. Additionally, you may choose to use 2-3 Tbsp. of hydrogen peroxide per gallon of water to sterilize it. You should use 1.5 lbs. of inoculated grain spawn per 5 lb. bag of the substrate. Mix your grain spawn thoroughly into the substrate in your tub. Still wearing latex gloves, cover your bin with its lid, but ensure there are filtered holes in it for air exchange. *Incubation for most species will take about 2-3 weeks; some longer. Check your bin regularly and look for healthy mycelium growth. Your bin will slowly turn white from mycelium growth. When the bin is fully colonized, you will begin to see mushroom pins or hyphae growing from the top of the substrate. At this point, you can either let the mushrooms continue to grow on their own or add a thin layer of coco coir or other media to the top. *Keep your bin humid, the air flowing, and you’ll be enjoying your own fungi right at home in no time. Get a complete step-by-step guide to growing indoor mushrooms here. Looking to grow mushrooms outdoors? You can use our mushroom substrate bags to grow mushrooms on outdoor beds with ease! *Shall be used only for lawful purposes
